West Gate is a neighborhood in Lakewood, Colorado. The major roads surrounding West Gate include Estes Street to the west, Morrison Road to the north, Yale Avenue to the south, and Wadsworth Boulevard to the east.
To the south of West Gate is one of the most incredible patches of land in all of Denver. Bear Creek Greenbelt is easily one of the most popular natural destinations in the Lakewood area. Many visitors from around Denver travel to Lakewood just to get a glimpse of the natural beauty of the area. One of the biggest draws is the massive number of trails throughout the area. For the more active visitors, this means a great place for walking, hiking, running, and even cycling. The many miles of trails provide an excellent workout with an amazing view. For others, the area provides a great opportunity to enjoy the nature and wildlife of the area. It is common for bird watchers and photographers to walk through the park looking for the many area animals and birds that call the park home.
Bear Creek Greenbelt is also a great place for relaxing. The numerous fields provide an excellent space to spread out, throw a frisbee, fly a kite, or toss a football. Many even come out to enjoy a day of fishing or just enjoy picnicking with the family.
For golfers, the Lakewood area provides a wide number of options. This is especially true in West Gate, where golf courses virtually surround the neighborhood in every direction. Within only 10 miles of the neighborhood, there are five large golf courses, many of which are part of a country club with a wide variety of additional facilities including tennis courts, fitness centers, and even swimming pools.
