Morse Park is a medium-sized, upper-middle class community in Lakewood, Colorado, on the outskirts of Denver. It lies in the northeastern portion of the city. With an area of 1.982 square miles, it houses almost 6,000 residents. In comparison with its size, Morse Park is less populated than most neighborhoods in the greater Denver area.
As an older neighborhood that largely predates the city’s 1969 incorporation, many well-kept, classic-style homes are in Morse Park. With its tree-lined streets that boast broad, large trees, the Morse Park community is primarily residential and mostly consists of detached, single-family homes. The Morse Park Neighborhood Association works hard to preserve its history and maintain the rural feel that this neighborhood is known for displaying.
Kipling Street borders the Morse Park neighborhood to the west, while Wadsworth Boulevard acts as its eastern border. 26th Avenue unofficially marks the northern border of the community, while West Colfax Avenue serves as its southern border.
There are many cultural attractions near this historical community. Lakewood’s Historical Belmar Village is only over a mile to the southeast of the Morse Park neighborhood. The Wheat Ridge Sod House Museum is less than three miles northwest. The Children’s Museum of Denver, four miles east of Morse Park, offers permanent and dynamic displays and activities for children and their families.
Yet another aspect that makes Morse Park a family-friendly place to live is the reputation of its schools. The neighborhood has four great schools: McLain Community High School, Slater Preschool Center, Slater Elementary School, and Sobesky Academy. Equally good schools within walking distance include Lakewood Christian Academy, Sunnymeade School, Bethlehem Lutheran School, Wheat Ridge High School, and Beth Eden Baptist School.
Many of the more affluent members of Morse Park enjoy membership in the Lakewood Country Club, located less than two miles southeast of the community. With its massive pool and fitness center, it satisfies the needs of those who prefer indoor exercise, while also offering professional-quality tennis courts. However, it’s primarily known for its golf courses.
