Lincoln Park is one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods, located just to the south of where Denver was first settled in the mid 1800s. The zip code is 80204, and it is located in Denver County. The community is bordered on the west by the South Platte River, on the east by Speer Boulevard, on the north by West Colfax Avenue, and on the south by 6th Avenue. Interstate 25 runs north and south through the western part of the neighborhood.
Numerous homes in the community date back to the early 1900s. The community is primarily single-family, detached homes, including two-story Victorians, brick bungalows, row houses, duplexes and single-story stuccos. There are also condominium and apartment facilities in the area. The Regional Transportation District light rail is a major form of transportation for the area and runs north and south through the neighborhood. The light rail offers fast, easy, and affordable transportation to many parts of Denver, and makes Lincoln Park an eco-friendly community. The neighborhood is sometimes called “La Alma/Lincoln Park” on the West Side.
This community is also the locale of the Santa Fe Arts District, on Santa Fe Drive, between 6th and 12th Avenues. This corridor is primarily retail and commercial properties, including art galleries, shopping, and dining options. The Denver Civic Theater, on Santa Fe Drive, was renovated in 1993 and houses a neighborhood arts center, with two theaters and an art gallery. This venue has been used by local playwrights. Museo de las Americas, also on Santa Fe Drive, is the region’s first museum dedicated to the arts and culture of Latinos.
The community’s namesake – Lincoln Park – is a public park located at Mariposa Street and West 11th Avenue. The park features a basketball court, lighted softball and football fields, sand volleyball court, and tennis court, along with an outdoor pool and recreation center.
