With its sprawling parks, plentiful reservoirs, and diverse homes, Kendrick Lake is a primarily residential neighborhood in the city of Lakewood, Colorado, in Jefferson County. It’s just southwest of Denver. West Mississippi Avenue borders the Kendrick Lake neighborhood to the north, and West Jewell Avenue borders it to the south. South Wadsworth Boulevard provides the community’s eastern border, while South Kipling Parkway is its western border.

The East Reservoir, the Smith Reservoir, and the Kendrick Reservoir are within the neighborhood, with the Main Reservoir just to its west. Kendrick Lake Park, the community’s namesake, is in the southeastern portion of the neighborhood. It offers a playground for kids, walking and hiking trails, picnic tables, barbecue grills, and a parking lot.

It’s a park community. Green Gables Park, which is thought to be named after the famous novel “Anne of Green Gables” by Lucy Maud Montgomery, lies toward the middle of the neighborhood. Green Gables has a softball field, baseball field, soccer fields, a football field, a playground, as well as hiking and biking paths. Sanctuary Park is also within the neighborhood. The Sanctuary Park Cottages are popular for extended tourist stays, so the neighborhood is not without tourist traffic.

The Jewell Square Shopping Center is at the southeastern part of the Kendrick Lake neighborhood. It features a variety of businesses, and has specialized schools like the Denver Karate Academy. A pet shop called Pets ‘N’ Stuff is found here, along with major stores like Rite Aid. Several food venues are also available, such as Papa John’s Pizza and Nicole’s Chicago Style Pizza.

The Lakewood Heritage Center is only a mile northeast of the Kendrick Lake Neighborhood. Molly Brown Summer House and the Lab at Belmar are within a 1.5-mile radius. Lakewood’s Historical Belmar Village is only three miles north. The Denver Art Museum is only six miles northeast of the neighborhood. The Children’s Museum of Denver offers area children the chance to play, explore, and learn simultaneously.
