The Eiber neighborhood in the city of Lakewood, Colorado, is close enough to Denver to enjoy the big city amenities, but far enough away to be able to experience the wide-open spaces and less populated places.

The neighborhood is bounded by Colfax Avenue, Wadsworth Boulevard, 6th Avenue, and Oak Street. The location is centralized for easy access to the city or the mountains, both only about 15 minutes away. It is an older neighborhood with tree-lined streets and a character all its own. The Eiber neighborhood has been in existence since Lakewood was established. Up until the 1940s, the area was largely made up of farms and fruit orchards.

Many of the homes date back to the early 1900s and are still in good condition. Reminiscent of Eiber’s agricultural past, a unique feature of these homes is that most have gardens in the front and backyard. The homes are generally large, and many sit on nearly an acre of land. Home prices are affordable in Eiber, ranging from the mid $100s to the high $400s. The community also offers some custom homes for elite buyers; these homes are valued at up to a million dollars. Besides single-family homes, community-housing options are varied and include apartments, condos, and town homes.

Regional Transportation District FastTracks is currently under construction and planned to be completed in late 2012, bringing light rail service to the community. The West Corridor is a pedestrian and bike-friendly project, currently adding bicycle and walking paths around the community, as well as lanes on public streets. The community has worked to put a major focus on pedestrian safety and is moving toward an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Eiber is home to many parks, a few of them being: Lakewood Park, Holbrook Park, and James Richey Park. Just to the north of Eiber lies Crown Hill Lake, Park, and Sanctuary, which offers visitors picnicking and camping grounds, fishing, swimming, hiking, and horseback riding. The areas surrounding Eiber contain an abundance of parks in every direction.

To the west of Eiber lies Colorado Mills Shopping Center, which boasts nearly 200 outlet stores – including major anchor stores – as well as a movie theatre.
