As one of the oldest communities in Lakewood, Edgewood has a lot of history. This tree-lined, idyllic neighborhood is located in northeastern Lakewood, of the greater Denver area, Edgewood is comprised of 1.094 square miles. It has a population of a little more than 5,000 residents.
The diversity of the types of homes within Edgewood is reflective of its extensive history and ability to change with the times. You can find homes ranging from sprawling estates to trailers on a small lot. Other home types include ranch-style horse properties, one-story bungalows, and classic two-story classic houses.
Since the neighborhood is so close to the state capital of Denver, there are a wide variety of cultural, historical and political attractions for Edgewood residents to enjoy. Lakewood’s historical Belmar Village is only a mile south of the neighborhood. The Lakewood City Government Museum is three miles south, while the very popular Children’s Museum of Denver is only three miles east of the community, making for a very easy commute after school or on weekends.
The Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design is located within the Edgewood neighborhood, making the area a popular college community as well. The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine is also in the community. Colorado Christian University is a little over two miles to the southwest of Edgewood. The American Real Estate College is two miles to its north.
Perhaps one of the things that makes Edgewood one of the most enjoyable communities in the country, though, is its proximity to the Rocky Mountains and their foothills. There are plentiful biking and hiking trails all around the community, as well as picnic spots and campsites. The Carl G. Morse Park is only a half mile west of the Edgewood neighborhood and offers a very nice pool. Other attractions within walking distance include Walker Branch Park and Hayward Park.
