Delmar Parkway is in Aurora, Colorado, just east of Denver. It’s bordered by Interstate 70 Business Route to the north and a number of other streets around its irregular shape: Peoria Street, East Sixth Avenue, Havana Street, East First Avenue, Dayton Avenue, East 11th Avenue, and Yosemite Street.
Delmar Parkway has a mix of business, single-family homes, apartments, and town homes. There is a very active neighborhood association that plans several events throughout the year and protects property values and rights throughout the neighborhood.
There are several parks in Delmar Parkway. Del Mar Park is located at 12000 East Sixth Avenue. Convenient to the neighborhood, Del Mar Park is a green space with sports fields, picnic areas, and walking paths. Other smaller parks, including Nome, Hoffman, and Fulton, are also close by.
The Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge is located at 5650 Havana Street. The refuge is a part of the National Wildlife Refuge System and consists of 12,500 acres of short grass prairies and all the animals that live in that environment. Originally a chemical weapons production facility for World War II, the area became a wildlife refuge in the 1980s but kept the word “arsenal” in the the name.
The University of Colorado Hospital is just outside the boundaries of Delmar Parkway at 1635 Aurora Court, and The Children’s Hospital main campus is at 16123 East 16th Avenue.
Fitzsimons Golf Course is a publicly owned course just minutes away from Delmar Parkway at 2323 Scranton Street. Built in 1918, it was a favorite course of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. A walkable course, it can be played in four hours.
