Dam East-West is a neighborhood in Aurora, Colorado. The neighborhood is framed by Interstate 225 to the east and Parker Road to the west. Interstate 225 and Parker Road come together to make the southern boundary and Yale Avenue is to the north.
Recreation is a big part of daily life in the Dam East-West neighborhood. This is because it is located in one of the best areas for recreation in the Aurora-Denver area. Just to the south of the neighborhood is Cherry Creek State Park. This massive park is extremely popular with area residents and visitors from all over the state. The popularity of the park is immediately noticed on the west side of the park where dozens of recreational vehicles are parked throughout the better parts of the year.
Cherry Creek Lake is a major part of Cherry Creek State Park. On the northwest side of the lake is one of the more popular destinations. This is where the public boat launch is located for Cherry Creek Lake. The launch provides the numerous area recreational boaters and fishermen with an opportunity to get out and enjoy a day on the water.
Cherry Creek State Park also provides an opportunity for Dam East-West residents to get out and hit the trails. Throughout the park and the surrounding area are miles of paved trail. These trails are widely used by surrounding neighborhood residents for walking, running, skating, and cycling.
Dam East-West is also surrounded by golf courses and country clubs. Within only a few miles of the neighborhood are several opportunities for area golfers to visit a golf course and hit a few balls. The largest of the courses is located just north of Cherry Creek Lake. John F. Kennedy Golf Course is one of the largest and most popular of all the courses located off of Hampden Avenue.
