The Aurora, Colorado neighborhood of Chambers Heights, located in zip code 80011, is bordered on the west by Interstate 225, on the east by North Chambers Road, on the north by Highway 287, and on the south by East Sixth Avenue. This community is located just north of Aurora City Center and offers easy access to local parks, shopping, and, recreation. Many schools, restaurants, and hotels are nearby as well.
Just to the northwest of Chambers Heights, on the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center Base, are the University of Colorado Hospital and The Childrens Hospital. Both hospitals have recently received new multi-million dollar investments.
The Fitzsimons Army Medical Center Base began as a medical facility during World War I. Many injured soldiers were treated here, and the facility was later developed into one of the Army’s premier medical training centers. The center closed in 1999 and the facilities have been transitioned into civilian medical care and research centers.
Another facility at the former base is the Colorado Science and Technology Park, with over six million square feet of commercial lab space. The base also includes a residential and retail town center.
To the northeast of Chambers Heights is Star K Ranch. This park, still mostly in its natural state, offers walking trails and beautiful views of Colorado nature and wildlife. To the southeast of Chambers Heights is Delaney Farm Park, which offers visitors a glimpse of what prairie life was like in the 19th century. The park offers picturesque views of the range and even a prairie dog community.
