The Carmody neighborhood is located in Lakewood, Colorado. Lakewood is a suburb of Denver and is located in Jefferson county. Carmody is bordered on the north by Jewell Avenue, South Wadsworth on the east, West Yale on the south and the western border is formed by Highway 391. Carmody Park offers access to the Recreation Center, playground equipment, soccer fields, a basketball court, picnic shelters, BBQ grill and pedestrian paths. Bear Creek Greenbelt borders the southeast edge of Carmody. The Greenbelt is 340 acres of open space and features include bike and pedestrian paths, horse trails, picnic areas and ponds. Wildlife is often observed in the area and people have reported seeing beavers, coyotes and an abundance of water fowl, like kingfishers, buffleheads and ring necks. The historic “Stone House” sits within the greenbelt and was built between 1859 and 1864. It dates back to Colorado’s Gold Rush days and is the first building in Lakewood to be added to the National Registry of Historic Places.
Local schools include Green Gables Elementary School, Westgate Elementary School and Carmody Middle School. Downtown Denver and the area’s surrounding amenities are just a short drive away from the Carmody neighborhood, making shopping, dining and entertainment options easy to access.
