The Candlelight neighborhood is in unincorporated Jefferson County, in the City of Arvada, Colorado. Van Bibber Open Space Park borders the neighborhood on the south side and Ward Road makes up the eastern border. The northern border is formed by West 60th Avenue and Hyatt Lake, and the western border is Indiana Street and Kelly Lake. The majority of the houses are custom built luxury homes, with three-car garages and brickwork. Most of them were built within the last 20 years. Current median home prices are $430,000.
The bordering Van Bibber Open Space Park is rich with historical significance. Nearby, Colorado’s first recorded gold rush occurred in 1850. The discovery was made by a group of miners on their way to the California. Along with learning a little history, visitors to Van Bibber Creek Trail often see deer, fox, birds, hawks, and waterfowl, due to the combination wetlands and ponds. It is a popular place for birdwatching, as it is often used by wildlife as a resting place while traveling between nesting places and feeding grounds.
There are many pedestrian/bike paths in the area. There are lakes nearby, as well, including Hyatt Reservoir and Kelly Reservoir. Harold D. Lutz Sports Complex is within walking distance from the Candlelight neighborhood and offers fields for softball, baseball, soccer, and Little League baseball. The kid-friendly Meadow Lake Park is nearby and features playground equipment, a tennis court, picnic tables, a walking/jogging path, and abundant shady trees.
Schools in the area include Stott Elementary School, Faith Christian Academy, Fremont Elementary School, Campbell Elementary School, Oberon Junior High School, Marantha Christian Center, and Arvada West High School.
