The city of Colorado Springs, with a population over 380,000, lies 69 miles south of Denver, Colorado. The 14,114 foot Pike’s Peak dominates the city’s skyline.
Colorado Springs is in effect a military town. The Army’s Fort Carson, along with two Air Force Bases and the U.S. Air Force Academy, can all be found near the city. Further, the nearby Cheyenne Mountain plays host the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

The nearby Flying W Ranch, besides being a great place to catch dinner and a show, is also a working cattle ranch.
Pike’s Peak is known as the inspiration for the song “America the Beautiful.” Visitors can reach the summit in two traditional ways: the Pike’s Peak Highway or the Cog Railway.
The Garden of the Gods can be found at Pike’s Peak. This spectacular place is made up of giant red sandstone formations. The peak also offers easy hiking and horseback riding trails.
